Whilst in my role as senior designer at Scheybeler+company, we were approached by Sharp to support internal coaching, strategy, and the pitch to unite Sharp’s marketing executives around the idea that headline sponsorship of the then ‘Garmin Barracuda Pro Cycling Team’ would benefit a Japanese electronics brand looking to grow its European presence. The deal was completed just in time to unveil the newly named ‘Garmin Sharp Pro Cycling Team’ at the 2012 Tour de France.
Originally tasked with integrating Sharp and its distinctive red into the Garmin kit, we developed an ongoing relationship with Slipstream Sports—the team’s management company—which saw us act as design consultants over the long term. Our work included designing a combined team and eCommerce site concept, where content and merchandising were brought together in a seamless, integrated platform.
